How Does a Metal Detector Work ?

The metal detector, which works with radio frequencies, first sends vibrations underground with electromagnetic waves emitted from the coils, receiver and transmitter sections. These vibrations bounce back from the metal mine they hit, creating Faraday or eddy currents, so the magnetic wave passes into a different wave production and gives a signal to the receiver. This system increases the signal probability according to the power of the detector, and is designed separately to work with the same performance in wet lands or in water.

Depending on the type and size of the metal, the signal given by the detector will increase, and some minerals and soil conductivity may decrease the metallic properties. Detectors with low frequency sensors are called VLF. There are also pulse frequency detectors and dual coil receiver and transmitter detectors. VLS type detectors can be a professional workmate in metal discrimination. For sensitive detectors, detector features with single coil and depth measurement range can be preferred. The presence of many elements and the variability of frequency and measurement range also provide information about the detector's power in finding metals and other minerals.

VLF type detectors determine the location of the metal by changing the phase of the received signals. Thanks to this working principle, it ensures that the metal is separated from other substances and that there are no false directions.
